IN THE NEWS

Summer / Autumn 2023

We had over 20 MPs come to the MP Drop In at Portcullis House this July, kindly sponsored by Carolyn Harris MP. Special guest, ex footballer Fabrice Muamba joined us to share his experiences with guests. Fabrice suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspurs’ White Hart Lane - for an astonishing 78 minutes, medics battled to get his heart beating again and twice discussed declaring him as dead.  The TOBE team offered MPs the chance to learn life-saving skills training including CPR and the use of an AED, as well as discussing cardiac screening for young people.  While all state funded schools in England are required to teach first aid as part of statutory Health Education, TOBE-Heartsafe believes that training should be given annually and would like the government to consider extending the requirement into primary schools #mpsupport4tobeheartsafe.

The team have been busy sharing their life saving training at a Science Festival at St Barts as well as listing two public training events in Hampton Wick this August and September.

Mute Snoring is also making headlines this Summer including Good Housekeeping which has recognised the nasal dilator in its list of anti-snoring products meanwhile sleep expert Olivia Arezzolo helps us understand more about Sleep Hygiene.

And in other news, BioSURE continue to trailblaze when it comes to taking charge of your health. The number of teachers’ working days missed because of sickness absence has soared by 56 per cent in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic according to the latest workforce census data from the Department for Education.  They’re urging teachers to get ahead of the curve to avoid the usual seasonal resurgence of illnesses like common colds, flu, stomach bugs and COVID-19 when they get back in the classroom.

BioSURE PRO Protective Nasal Spray - proven safe and effective for 6-hours per use – creates an invisible physical barrier that neutralises and blocks viruses and helps prevent infections caused by rotavirus A (sickness and diarrhoea) RSV (common colds), influenzas (flu) and coronaviruses including COVID-19.  Get yours before term starts at just £9.99 for everyone using the code TEACHER23 online at www.bebiosure.com . Also at Well Pharmacy and Amazon on promotion in September.May/June 2023

Things are really hotting up for our not for profit www.tobe-heartsafe.org.uk with a drop-in at Portcullis House for MPs planned in early July so we can introduce ourselves and our aims, and we’re heading over to Barts and St Marys Science Festival in June to demonstrate Basic Life Support Training - a vital skill to help save lives. We also have two screening days and two training days planned in August and September. Check out the website’s new calendar to find out where we will be and more information about costs, and timings.

Meanwhile BioSURE Global have been busy supporting it’s new home tests, sharing stories with the media. See friend of BioSURE, actress Nichola Kelleher’s story on her fertility journey

Meanwhile their new Protective Nasal Spray is proving to be a travel essential to keep infections at bay .. watch this space for more updates on how people are using it at Summer festivals and to keep well on their commute.

And talking of travel, sleep and snoring are never far from our minds - according to Liz Goddard who writes in the Daily Telegraph www.mutesnoring.com is an essential item to pack! Father’s Day is also capturing imagination with the suggestion that Dads could do with www.mutesnoring.com in their gift box - we think all the family will thank you for that!

April 2023

Sleep and Snoring were definitely top of the media’s agenda in the last month with World Sleep Day giving us the opportunity to share the Annual Snoring and Sleep Report from client www.mutesnoring.com. The research spans USA, UK and AUS and it really gives a great insight into our sleep (or lack of) habits and what’s keeping us awake at night - and when it comes to snoring, what hacks we’re using … some interesting, some relevant .. and some .. well a bit ridiculous .. but we’ll let you decide! Here’s a few of the articles we achieved:

Five ways proven to REALLY stop your snoring | Daily Mail Online

And continuing with a health theme, the team from not for profit www.tobe-heartsafe.org.uk went into the Storyvault Films team office to teach CPR and AED lskills. Its part of a programme that is being rolled out in the UK and includes heart screening for schools and sports clubs - watch this space for news on our plan with Oundle School in May.

Also this month comes news from BioSure Global, the team behind the first CE marked HIV self-test, which is launching a new range of BioSURE Self Tests to provide an easy, convenient and cost-effective way to help check a wide range of health issues.  Its just been announced that they are the exclusive testing category supplier with the National Pharmacy Association’s (NPA) in support of their new health and wellbeing initiative ‘Taking Charge Of Your Own Health. It’s designed to encourage fuller use of pharmacies and provide people with the very best thought leadership and guidance, to keep them as fit, healthy and active as possible.

According to the NHS ‘Early Diagnosis is Key’ and there are 14 new BioSURE Self Tests available, from food intolerance and diabetes to checking thyroid function, alongside specific men’s and women’s hormone tests, as well as ovarian and prostate health tests.

We will share coverage as news gets out over the next month ….Spring is proving busy!

 March/Spring 2023

Partnerships and relationships are high on our agenda … and it’s been great to work with Janet Reibstein to support the launch of her insightful new book Good Relations - a real page turner.

And if snoring is keeping you awake .. well keep an eye out for www.mutesnoring.com and the new 2023 Annual Sleep & Snoring Report we’re writing in time for World Sleep Day 17 March 2023. [spoiler alert] our research confirms we’re not getting the shut eye we need (or deserve) with anxiety and stress causing many of our sleep issues and disturbed nights are often down to snoring!

Winter 2022

As this year draws to a close, we reflect on some amazing client projects that have really captured imagination - whether that’s been helping us to get a good nights sleep, being transported from our armchairs or keeping us healthy.

Once again, the Storyvault Films team created the unmissable The Sky Arts Book Club series helping to capture our imagination in the Summer special, September series, and just this week their Christmas special. The brilliant presenters Andi Oliver and Elizabeth Day alongside Simon Savidge have helped bring books and characters to life this year. Here’s just a few of the comments and interviews we’ve secured:

Nasal dilator experts www.mutesnoring.com have been busy with us across continents with PR campaigns in USA, AUS and the UK. They’ve been at the forefront of research on what’s affecting our sleep and how we can get a restful night. We got in touch with the brilliant Shaun Williamson (Barry from Eastenders) who talked about his long search for solutions and how Mute has helped him (and his wife!). Watch out for plans in 2023 with the 2nd Annual Sleep and Snore Report that’s going to lift the lid on how much we’ve spent on trying to sleep better and some of the more unusual ways we’ve looked at!

With coughs, colds and ongoing worries for our health this winter, the team have been busy working with BioSURE PRO Nasal Spray - an innovative, patented spray with a unique action which creates a barrier in the nasopharynx that blocks the attachment of airborne viruses. And we round up our Winter posts with news of the not for profit charity that Kerry has helped create and is a director of: www.tobe-heartsafe.org.uk. Every day, strong and healthy young people die suddenly from heart conditions they didn’t know they had. Under the age of 35, many deaths are registered as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome – SADS. Their mission is to provide cardiac screening, CPR training and defibrillators for schools, sports clubs and institutions, and through the generosity of those who can afford to pay, we will provide these life-saving services for young people unable to fund them for themselves. We’ve created the website and designed the logo, and we’re busy approaching schools, sports clubs in partnership .. more of this to come in 2023.

***
Thank you for partnering with us, and we want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year from us all at Eye PR.

Autumn 2022

The ever popular The Sky Arts Book Club returns for a new series this September 2022.    The four-episode series will air every Wednesday at 8pm throughout the month and features a brand-new line-up of best-selling authors as guests on the sofa. It follows a summer special in July that featured Minnie Driver’s memoire Managing Expectations, and will finish this year with a Christmas special which includes Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Hosted by Andi Oliver and Elizabeth Day, with literary podcaster and youtuber Simon Savidge providing recommendations throughout, each week they are joined by author guests to ask questions and share their views on a weekly theme.  Find it on Sky Arts, and catch up on all episodes via NOW and Freeview.

This Fall we’re also working with our wonderful friends at www.mutesnoring.com. With the clocks turning at the end of October expect some news from the team on how to get a good night’s sleep - particularly for those of us with a snorer in the household!

We’re are also happy to announce that the not-for-profit organisation www.tobe-heartsafe.com is to launch this Autumn.

Every day, strong and healthy young people die suddenly from heart conditions they didn’t know they had. Our mission is to provide cardiac screening, CPR training and defibrillators for schools, sports clubs and institutions.  Through the generosity of those who can afford to pay, we will provide these life-saving services for young people unable to fund them for themselves.

It brings together specialists in cardiology, and has been set up to promote screening and training in schools and sports clubs up and down the country, inspired by great friend and colleague Sam Richards and the tragic death of her son Toby at just 22yrs old whose death was registered as SADS - Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

Summer 2022

We’ve been busy with www.mutesnoring.com and created a fantastic global report that we will be managing annually all about sleeping and snoring. We worked with One Poll and directed research in Australia, USA and the UK in what we believe is one of the largest reports to get under the skin of our sleeping habits. Dr Ellie Cannon GP, Author and Broadcaster worked with us to help spread the word in the UK and we discovered that Brighton has the most snorers .. but that might just be that they’re more honest!

We had coverage across 5 x nationals, and 150 regionals in the UK along with similar reactions across Australian and American media titles with experts including Australia’s #1 sleep expert Dr Olivia Arezzolo.

Read the Daily Express story here, and the fuller report too:

Brighton is the snoring capital of the UK - as one in five told their snore is 'a growl' | Express.co.uk

In other news, we partnered with the British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association for its National Stop Snoring Week linking our new report too: https://www.facebook.com/britishsnoringassociation and ongoing support including Father’s Day and Men’s Health Week this June.

Working with our friend and colleague Sam Richards, we have been busy working on a not for profit organisation that we’ve named ToBe-Heartsafe in memory of her son Toby, bringing together a team of people and specialists to help raise awareness of SADS - Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, offering cardiac screenings, training and risk assessments to individuals and organisations, that in turn can be expanded into local communities and help prevent the premature and sudden deaths of those under the age of 35. More details to come as we have created the logo, mission and will be working on a website to partner with independent schools, and sports clubs around the UK.

And in other news working with our friends at www.drvegan.com with their new beauty product Skin Saviour and supporting other lines in the range - this just in from our friends at Womens fitness How to recover from long walks and regain strength - Women's Fitness (womensfitness.co.uk)

We know that MUTE is also proving popular - particularly among those who had family and friends stay over the festive period, confirming our survey stat that nearly a third of us can hear someone through the walls snoring! This brilliant nasal dilator is proving very popular to help people breathe more, snore less and sleep better…. watch this space for our plans to own World Sleep Day in March! Do keep updated with our posts as plans unfold and here’s hoping for a happy, healthy start to this new year for everyone.

Winter 2021

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on a busy final few months, and celebrate some real milestones in 2021.

We’re proud to have been part of some major campaigns this year. Starting with Eye PR Friend and colleague Sam Richards whose 22-year-old son died suddenly two years ago from an undiagnosed heart condition. Raising awareness of silent killer - Sudden Adult Death Syndrome - alongside her co-produced documentary ‘Sudden Death: My Sister’s Silent Killer’ to bring the issue to a wider audience and encourage testing young adults who might not have heard of the condition. Then to the impressive career of Parm Sandhu - an inspiration to anyone who has found themselves struggling against adversity - promoting her co-written book 'Black and Blue’ with Stuart Prebble - an account of her life as a senior police officer and rising through the ranks against the odds.

Comitti Boats UK & Caribbean made its debut at the Southampton Boat Show and the BREVA 35 was a huge hit amongst visitors. We definitely made an impression as the team have even become the ‘face’ of next year’s Show! https://www.southamptonboatshow.com/

DR.VEGAN continues to make its mark in the vitamin and supplements market and their latest product Debloat & Detox is making headlines with The Sun and The Metro featuring it as a must have for the Christmas/New year

Rhinomed’s MUTE snoring nasal dilator is also continuing to interest journalists and our Lost Sleep survey certainly captured imagination across the board as we seem to be losing over 2 hours on average a night - and yes the main culprit is our bed partner snoring!

As we close the year, we’d like to wish all our clients, colleagues, partners and friends a very Merry Christmas and here’s to a happy and healthy 2022.

Autumn 2021

We are working closely with Rhinomed MUTE in the UK and in Australia to help support the brand and bring their story to life. Most recently, we conducted some research in the UK to talk about our sleeping habits .. and used the clocks going back for an hour as a hook. It turns out that on average we’re losing up to 2 hours a night ..and the main reason? Our bed partner snoring! Lots of media were interested in the story, and we engaged author, broadcaster and GP Dr Ellie Cannon to help us explain the issue and health implications. Here’s just a taster of the coverage with 4 x national pieces in paper, online and over 150 regional papers and 30+ radio stations covering our story.

In other news, DR.VEGAN has been busy launching some ground breaking new formulas including Debloat & Detox. We hosted a media briefing at the Ham Yard Hotel where over 20 journalists came to hear founder Gordon Lott and nutritionist Shona Wilkinson talk about why DR.VEGAN vitamins are different and what to look for in a quality product, alongside the brand’s eco credentials.

And we’ve already had some great pieces and links from our experts to spread the word about the brand.. including this about Menopause symptoms

Summer 2021

At last the weather is on the turn, and Summer is here.. with lots of exciting new news from Eye PR. We’ve just started working with the fabulous team at Rhinomed who make a brilliant device called MUTE. For all you snorers .. and for partners who snore .. this is the brand for you! We’ve just started working and already secured a piece for the client on exploding Snoring myths (see point 10 in the article) ..https://www.newsweek.com/myths-about-sleep-you-should-stop-believing-1595419 watch this space for some great research too

Meanwhile, over at Comitti Boats UK & Caribbean we’re just planning our position at the Southampton International Boat Show this September (10-19th) where a new ISOLA 33 will make its debut. These really are beautiful boats, handcrafted and perhaps more affordable than you think…. we’ll keep you up to date with plans but check out the four models in the family at Comitti Boats UK & Caribbean Family - Comitti Boats UK

And to other news. We’ve been working with the wonderful team at Storyvault Films on two projects. The first was a very personal one for executive producer and friend Sam Richards. Her son Toby died at just 22yrs old of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome .. and so many people we talked to had been affected or known someone who has also died of SADS. She co-produced a beautiful documentary that BBC One aired last month, following Patrick Mead and his family as they go on a journey to find out more about his sister Laura’s death, aged just 19. Sky News, Victoria Derbyshire and many others shared the documentary, chatted to Sam and experts on this important story - and where people can go for answers and help. Here’s a piece explaining here: 'I Lost My Sister To Sudden Adult Death Syndrome Aged 19' (tyla.com)

Our second project with the team is a very different story - but just as powerful. Parm Sandhu, who was the highest ranking Asian female police officer in the Met before she retired in 2019, knows first-hand what it is like to be on the receiving end of sexual and racial abuse. And, after speaking out, Parm found herself facing a false charge of gross misconduct. Former TV investigative journalist Stuart Prebble, helped Parm document her life. ‘Black and Blue’ tells her shocking story, published by Atlantic Books and available mid June from Amazon and all good book stores. Cathy Newman on C4 News had the first exclusive .. Institutional racism in Met ‘worse now’ than after Macpherson inquiry, says former officer – Channel 4 News …and it’s certainly got people talking …

Finally we’re doing some great work for DR.VEGAN | Ethical Vegan Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals (drvegan.com) and helping target influencers and like minded partners to promote their brilliant brand of supplements. Check out Ella May Houghton’s take on their new ScreenEyes product for Eye Health. With so many of us using screens for work and play this really is a game changer. Winter 2020

Eye PR has been heavily involved in helping create The Twelve Days of Christmas Challenge to fundraise for The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. Working with the brilliant Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth, we helped manage IGTV cooking demonstrations encouraging people to donate while watching. Then there’s the twelve giant Christmas baubles we commissioned so that Clarendon Fine Art’s favourite artists could beautifully hand paint and include them as Lots in The Grand Auction www.cornwallairambulance.auction. And all to raise money for the charity’s much needed replacement Rapid Response Car and medical equipment.

The Twelve Days of Christmas Challenge is sponsored by Cornwall Air Ambulance ambassador Dr Karen Dickens and Comitti Boats UK & Caribbean.

Karen said: “Christmas is a very special time of year for me, so I wanted to share some of my favourite things during the Twelve Days of Christmas Challenge - hopefully putting the magic back into Christmas, while also raising much needed funds for a charity very close to my heart, the Cornwall Air Ambulance.”

And we’re delighted to be working with Karen on this project.

Summer 2020

Over the last few months we’ve seen many of our clients supporting the NHS as well as celebrating VE Day. Here’s just a few of the wonderful stories to keep you up to date….

Artist Doug Hyde man described as ‘the UK’s most popular living artist’ by the BBC, has raised over £150,000 for the NHS Charities Together Covid 19 Urgent Appeal in record time. Doug teamed up with Whitewall Galleries to achieve this magical target through the sale of ‘Thank You’, a beautiful painting representing a heartfelt personal tribute to the NHS which captured the heart of the nation. 999 beautiful giclée prints were created - the largest ever limited edition of one Doug’s works – and had sold out within 24 hours. The original painting meanwhile fetched more than double the expected price, with all proceeds going directly to the charity. See Our Dogs magazine take on it here:

Gareth of course was the winner of the series back in 2017 who painted Graham Norton - and it turned out they were related! See the fuller story under Work!
